fly away! closet challenge moves along... and Happy New Year!

day 67 fly away!

gifted Tim Burton scarf from La Rae, black tshirt and sailor trousers, and lovely brooch pair from the amazingly talented and whimsical Jane Aubourg. she makes lovely pieces AND lovely music. do check her out! here's a closeup of the brooches she made...

paired with this lovely gifted HUGE black ring.

and black prada bag.

day 68
layered black tops (one see through, one cami), black trousers, steve madden heels, and gifted purse. i adore the graphic print on this little purse!

and a closer view of the shoes, black and white leopard print with red trim.

day 69
graphic black and white print top, target flats, black trousers, prada bag, and one huge ring.

this is my favorite ring. i got it in Bozeman, Montana. sometimes... i think i should have gotten the big one. LOL, oh, well.

day 70.
this does not work.

i know it doesn't work. i know it makes me look wide. i know i'm not tall enough for it. but i love it! i got this dress for five (five!) dollars, and just cannot let it go. i love the fabric and pattern.

and absolutely gorgeous covered buttons.

oh, well. win some, lose some. and if anyone out there can make this dress work, let me know! it's yours.

day 71
how to dress up a t-shirt? add a fancy skirt.

we all have go to t-shirts. since i don't wear jeans at all (as in never, don't have any), i have to pair mine with other options. with a skirt like this, i can wear a t-shirt to work, out, etc. ironically, when i got this shirt (my daddy drives a ford) it was true, but now he drives a big ole harley. i've not found that shirt yet.
paired with these earrings:

and paired with this Kenneth Cole bracelet with similar textures:

happy new year everyone! more posts in 2011 and the closet challenge continues... thank you all so much for reading- i wish you a fabulous NYE and amazing 2011! i have my outfit picked out already... do you??

days 65 and 66 of the closet challenge

day 65
i promise that shirt is ruched and not wrinkled. from target, with a gifted jacket and skirt. black flats. and my absolute favorite sunglasses, from a vintage shop. i am Shocked that i have managed not to lose these.

and without the jacket.

day 66
my favorite Tim Burton dress.
i got this at a vintage store, and it's my favorite Tim Burton dress. when i saw it on the rack, i PRAYED that it would fit- and it does! and puffed sleeves to boot? yes, ma'am!

more soon... busy, busy holidays!

always remember to vote!

day 63

Matt called this my J-Lo outfit. i told him to bite me ;p and that J-Lo doesn't wear Manuel.

Manuel hat- missing one rhinestone, sadly.

paired with a T-Shirt from a charity event for RAINN (rape abuse incest national network), the 6:58 reference is from a Tori Amos song called "spark," she founded RAINN. the turtle ring was handmade by a woman named Venus Brightstar and i've had it for a long time. the turtle represents Mother Earth, the blue in his shell is Father Sky, and the moonstone is my birthstone.

day 64
off the shoulder.

this top is one of my all time favorites. i love the off the shoulder look, love the white detailing on the side and around the bottom. it's comfortable, dresses up easily with a skirt and some heels, or i can wear it as here to work. paired with gifted earrings and my Seurat purse.

this is from the painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, arguably his most famous work and an excellent example of pointillism.  it's currently in Chicago at the Art Institute, where i have had the honor of seeing it in person, and you may remember it from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

and for day 62
stand up for your rights!  i wore this on voting day.

i love the pockets in this little polka dot dress- i always wear it with pants under it, though, because it's a bit short for my taste. my friend David made this lovely tool necklace...

always be prepared. and my bunny's nana made this purse- i have several that she made, she was a talented lady!
hope all is well with y'all. can't believe it's almost christmas!

never too much Burton, never too much Marilyn

first of all i want to say a big thank you to Alice over at bells and whistles for her lovely giveaway that i won! i'm so excited! i can't wait for the necklace to arrive, and i will certainly be posting a picture with my outfits. she has a wonderful blog- give it a gander! (und danke sehr, Alice, diese kette is aber so schoen!)

the closet challenge moves on!

day 55 - a second Marilyn top.

i love her. this Warhol version of miss Monroe is from a funky local shop, paired with an Angela Adams clutch and red, red ring.

day 56 - ole!
my lovely mama brought me this top from mexico when she went to visit a friend a while back. i love the colors in the top, and it's mostly sheer in parts all over- but somehow, you can't really tell. i wore a black bra so you can see the sheerness, but with a nude one, it's unnoticeable. paired with these turquoise numbers from my friend Martha at a bloody mary morning yard sale we had several years ago.

day 57
rain, rain, go away. i don't mind rain when it's warm out, but when it's chilly- bleech! i do however, love my barbie pink raincoat!

i made this purple heart top long ago, frankly, it's starting to wear out. :(

but i do love an excuse to wear my wellies!!

day 58 never to much Burton!

what can i say? i love stripes. all kinds and colors! this grey/black goes wonderfully with pinks or green/blues, like the necklace i have with it here.

day 61 (Hallowe'en pics, 59 and 60 posted previously)

for kicks. you've got to have at least one funny shirt to bum around in. this was a gift from Cupcake. i know it's backwards using my photobooth, but you'll get the idea ;)

some roughs...

a few rough shots from a bandit shoot in a goodwill... more soon.

50?! and more

day 49
red blue floral. i absolutely adore this little dress and am so bummed that i won't be able to wear it again (it's super cute with black tights and boots, too!). i love the shape of this, too, and think it's flattering for my body type- so if you're a pear, go for this shape!

paired with a square moonstone ring, gifted from my step mother and triple hoop earrings.

day 50! and going strong. red top with sheer black overlay, black pants and my adorable (if i do say so myself) button purse.

i style a band in town called Team Illuminati, and while on the prowl for some rock opera alien attack pieces (seriously) with the fearless leader, Aloysius,  found this in a vintage shoppe. he was kind enough to buy it for me (awww). i've consequently added more buttons, and yes, i lose them everywhere when i carry this.

day 51- party girl.

wore this to a small evening party for business. i can't remember where i got this top, but it's two pieces, sheer and blue, with little sparkles that don't photograph terribly well. black trousers, black shrug, and these earrings- long, silver strands, they almost look like feathers.  and my friend Jo has been trying to steal them from me for years. ;)

day 52- Burton girl!

as most of you know, i'm a huge fan of Tim Burton, and collect what i call "Burton dresses" usually striped, paired down colors or black and white (or black and red, for that matter), just something i know he'd love- this is one of my faves. it's actually made from tshirt material, so it's totally comfortable, though must be worn with a slip to prevent indecency. paired with black oxfords and black blue purse, and this locket.
i don't have any pictures in it, it holds two. have been meaning to put in one of Luna and one of the bunny. <3

day 54

pinky and the brain. thrifted floral print top with black cami, Steve Madden mary janes, pink leopard purse. and one heavy pair of earrings.

boss metal pink hoops with triangle and diamond cut outs. very heavy. i usually only wear them out or during the day while working- but not both. but i love the shape and the bright pop of color- i even have the exact same pair in green... for another closet challenge day.

thanks for reading! if you like, find me on twitter and facebook and say hi! and leave me your blog so i may peek at your style :)
